Notably, she worked to develop and facilitate a three-year, multi-stakeholder public/private partnership focused on literacy. Prior to joining the University, Jan was director of consumer and member communications for Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, Calif. She also has held various positions in development and marketing communications in science- and health-related organizations.
She holds a B.A. in literature and art history from the University of Minnesota.
When she’s not at work, Jan enjoys spending time at her home in St. Paul with her husband, daughter and two dogs, and figuring out ways to eke the most production out of her backyard garden.
