Dept. of Geography
Steven Manson is an associate professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Minnesota. He teaches in the areas of geographic information science and spatial analysis of human-environment systems.
Manson combines environmental research, social science approaches and geographic information science to understand changing urban and rural landscapes at the global scale and at smaller scales in the United States and Mexico.
As an Institute on the Environment resident fellow, he's developing hybrid models that combine land cover with land use by integrating new forms of population and environmental data to improve the characterization of global landscapes.
He is also using these hybrid models to examine the impact of population dynamics such as land use, migration and family demographics on environmental dynamics such as land cover, invasive species and hydrology.
See Manson's faculty page for more info.
