Tom Masterman serves as the associate director of Dialogue Earth, a new Institute on the Environment program focused on understanding dialogue related to the environment, and developing resources to promote shared understanding. His work includes in-depth analysis on how environmental events impact online discussion, as well as the research and development of online tools promoting dialogue.
He recently joined the IonE following more than a decade of experience in media. He spent the past nine years at Internet Broadcasting, a firm that provides digital media solutions for local television stations. There, Masterman served as director of research and metrics, managing all aspects of reporting and analytics for a network of television Web sites. He also provided research support for Internet Broadcasting’s advertising network and market development group. Prior to that, he was an Emmy-nominated producer at WCVB-TV, the ABC affiliate in Boston.
Masterman holds a communication degree from Boston College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota. A Massachusetts native, he moved to the Twin Cities in 2001, and currently lives in St. Paul. When he’s not staring at his computer screen, he enjoys playing tennis—and attempting to golf and ski.
