Mohamed Yakub
Interdisciplinary Doctoral Fellow

Mohamed Yakub is a Ph.D. student in the Tiffin lab in plant biological sciences.

His research focuses on understanding plant evolutionary and ecological responses to various stresses, specifically anthropogenic stresses. For his dissertation work he is characterizing plant differentiation between urban and neighboring rural areas. Cities are warmer, drier, and differ in air quality compared to natural areas; how have plants responded to these changes?

Other than research, he is actively involved in scientific outreach, primarily via Science Outreach. He also enjoys live theater, and says Minneapolis has been a great place to see some amazing work!
