Climate Change in the Age of Alternative Facts
June 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
On Monday, June 26 – the first day of our 12th annual Summer Institute for Climate Change Education – we’re co-hosting a free public forum with the U of M Institute on the Environment and the Humphrey School’s Center for Science, Technology & Environmental Policy:
U of M Humphrey School of Public Affairs, Cowles Auditorium
Monday, June 26, 7-8 pm
Pre-forum reception with teachers and supporters in Cowles Atrium, 6-7 pm
The forum will center on current climate change misinformation and how scientists are countering that, featuring leading voices from the intersection of climate science and communication. Dr. Ben Santer of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, has appeared on numerous late-night TV shows to elevate climate science in the public sphere, and Dr. Jessica Hellmann of the Institute on the Environment has spent years working to integrate environmental research across disciplines and sectors of society. Former legislator and senior Humphrey fellow Steve Kelley will moderate the discussion.
Before the forum, we invite you to attend a reception with our Summer Institute educators, generously hosted by Board Member Joann Knuth. The reception will take place from 6–7 pm in the atrium of the Cowles auditorium.
If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP here.
