Navigating Climate Anxiety

May 4 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Free

Do you wonder how to navigate the emotional toll of climate breakdown? Strategies and solutions to care for your mental health while confronting the climate crisis are essential. Join us on May 4th from 12:00-1:30pm for a workshop with Dr. Jennifer Atkinson, Associate Professor of environmental humanities at the University of Washington, Bothell, known for her seminars on Eco-Grief and Climate Anxiety.

In this workshop we will explore the complex emotional and ethical issues involved in facing the threat of climate change, and offer strategies for students, educators, and community members to stay engaged in environmental work over the long run. Dr. Atkinson will draw on resources from the humanities, psychology, contemplative practice, and post-traumatic growth theory to help participants build the resilience needed for navigating despair and hope in our era of climate crisis.

Co-sponsored by the Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing and Environmental Humanities Initiative.
