“Off-Grid Solar Distribution Models and Consumer Safeguards in Rural Kenya”

Join the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy & Society of Dartmouth College for their New Energy: Conversations with Early-Career Energy Researchers series. On February 17th, IonE’s Policy Analyst in Energy Transitions, Heidi Ries, will moderate the talk featuring Elise Harrington, assistant professor in the Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy area at the University of Minnesota.

The talk will focus on how using original survey data from Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya, Dr. Harrington examines the effect of frontline actors in off-grid solar distribution on knowledge of consumer safeguards. This research illustrates pathways for strengthening consumer safeguards in off-grid solar in Kenya to support sustainable solar services.
