Please join us for a lunchtime presentation from Maddie Norgaard (MS-STEP, 2018), who will discuss her work as a graduate research assistant at the Institute on the Environment in Circular Economy:
“In 2016 with the help of Institute on the Environment, the Minnesota Sustainable Growth Coalition commissioned a study to build awareness and spark excitement about the potential of a circular economy to enable our region to thrive. Over the fall semester I worked to understand the collective vision of 30 companies motivated to go beyond business-as-usual sustainability by working together towards a brighter future. First, my project investigated the theory of circular economy based on developments of the concept around the world. Then, through interviews with Coalition members, I discovered the potential for the private sector, working collaboratively, to unlock a new level of social, economic, and environmental benefits through the aspiration of a circular economy. I will discuss the nature of this research project, my approach, findings, and lessons learned. I am eager for feedback and discussion about potential future steps and research opportunities.”
About the STEP-FAR Seminar Series:
The STEP-FAR seminar series is an interdisciplinary platform for scholars and practitioners to discuss research and policy issues in the broad domain of science, technology, and environmental policy. The seminar series provides an informal setting for feedback and engagement with ongoing research projects and policy debates.
We invite scholars from all disciplines and practitioners working in all action arenas with connections to the fields of scholarship that shape science, technology, and environmental policy. The seminar series takes place throughout the academic year at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, typically over lunchtime on Mondays.
Interested speakers should contact the STEP-FAR Series Chair, Steve Kelley (email@example.com), for a list of available dates.
