What do those “eco-friendly” labels mean, anyway?
It seems like every type of consumer product from seafood to soap seems to carry an “eco-friendly” label these days. What do those labels tell us — and perhaps as important, what don’t they tell us?
IonE fellow Tim Smith, director of the NorthStar Initiative for Sustainable Enterprise and a professor in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, spoke recently with WTIP North Shore Community Radio about “green” labels, what they really mean, and how we can use them to make environmentally friendly choices.
