Public Engagement
The Institute on the Environment is committed to research that translates into real-world solutions. In line with this commitment, we seek out partnerships with fellow University organizations, government agencies, nonprofits, industry groups and other stakeholders to pursue collaborative research, education and outreach related to our mission.
For example, the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources funded a partnership of the region’s foremost natural resource experts, including consultants from the Institute on the Environment, Bonestroo and CR Planning, and research scientists from across the University of Minnesota.
With the assistance of experts from relevant state agencies, these project teams developed a long-term blueprint called the Minnesota Statewide Conservation and Preservation Plan. The teams held a series of stakeholder meetings in May 2008, and presented the final report to the LCCMR in July 2008.
If your organization is interested in forming a partnership with the Institute, please e-mail the director.
