Carlos is a postdoctoral research associate working with the Global Water Initiative and the Natural Capital Project. His research in land use and spatial ecology aims to provide relevant information that can inform species and ecosystem management. At IonE, Carlos uses his ecology and remote sensing background to identify opportunities to use earth observation products in ecosystem services research. His previous work includes the analysis of forest fragmentation in Mexico, finding linkages between agricultural practices and insect diversity, and the quantification of agricultural abandonment in southern Mexico.
Carlos earned his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, MS at the University of Poitiers, and his B.Sc. at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
