Emma DeVries

Emma DeVries is a PhD candidate in Geography at the University of Minnesota. Her research is focused on the ways theology and religious institutions have shaped modern configurations of race, colonialism, and human-environment relationships; which she studies in the context of contemporary evangelical climate politics. Emma holds an M.T.S. in Theological Studies from Duke University, and in addition to her schooling, Emma has worked in community organizing (on immigration and climate change) and service-learning in higher education over the past decade. She is passionate about the intersections of disability justice, mental health, and environmental issues, and aspires to make social movements accessible and inclusive to all. Some of her favorite things include foggy days, live music, rocky coastlines, poetry, a good mystery, and her cat, Wendell.
