Jan Bauer took up her posting as the UK Consul, for Government and Prosperity in December 2016 with the opening of the UK Government Office in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, where she works to promote UK interests in business, economic, academic and political ties with Minnesota.

As adjunct faculty with Concordia University, St. Paul, Jan teaches International Management. Previously she consulted with the University of South Florida to develop international marketing plans for area companies, and served as Director of the Small Business Development International Trade Center at the College of Lake County in Illinois, where she earned the 2013 SBDC Center of Excellence and Innovation award from the Small Business Administration (SBA), and was recognized by the YWCA for Woman of Achievement in Business.

Jan began her international career in college where she lived and studied in Aalborg Denmark, Nevers, France and Seregno Italy. Jan holds a Bachelors in International Relations from St. Cloud State University and an MBA from Walden University. She is a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) through NASBITE International, certified Export and Trade Councelor through the SBA, and Certified Business Advisor through the Illinois Small Business Economic Growth Association.
