Kate Thompson is an Researcher with the Natural Capital Project and Global Water Initiative. Kate’s research explores how water resources influence ecosystem services for the state of Minnesota, and particularly how excessive nitrogen contamination impacts human health and ecosystems. Prior to joining the Institute, Kate researched global agriculture production and demand for animal protein, and seafood production methods. Kate also has a long standing interest in how social entrepreneurship can lead to better outcomes for people and the environment. Kate has a B.S. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior and a B.A. in Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature from the University of Minnesota.
