Marie Donahue is the program manager for the Natural Capital Project team based at the University of Minnesota, where she manages projects, supports strategic planning and communications, and assists with a variety of other research and engagement activities. She is interested in the intersection of ecosystem services science, policy and practice, particularly in the contexts of sustainable, livable cities and multi-stakeholder landscape planning processes. Marie has contributed research on the recreation and mental health benefits of urban parks, and she has led a collaborative, interdisciplinary project exploring social equity and environmental justice in water resource organizations in Minnesota.
Prior to joining IonE and the Natural Capital Project, Marie earned her M.S. in natural resources and environment at the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment with a focus on environmental policy and planning, and she received a B.A. in environmental studies and economics from the University of Chicago. She enjoys baking, gardening and exploring parks and trails across the Twin Cities.
