Orli Handmaker

Orli’s work is driven by her desire to find solutions that lie at the crossroads of agriculture and conservation. More specifically, she is interested in how the coupling of economic models with ecological understanding can make sustainable changes appealing to stakeholders and decision-makers around the globe. As a researcher with the Natural Capital Project team, Orli supports a variety of projects that take such an interdisciplinary approach to protecting our planet and its resources. Before joining the Natural Capital Project, Orli worked in international development, focusing on agriculture, food security and Latin America. She earned her B.A. in economics and Spanish from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
