Peter Hawthorne is a lead scientist with the Natural Capital Project. Peter’s work focuses on resolving the challenge of meeting multiple objectives in ecosystem services planning. To tackle this problem, he develops methods and tools that help visualize, prioritize, and optimize across multiple services and planning targets, with the goal to make this information accessible and interactive for use in decision-making. He enjoys that this work continually draws on his backgrounds in mathematics, ecology, economics and even philosophy. In addition to his Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior from the University of Minnesota, Peter holds an A.B. in mathematics from Harvard University.
