SustAction Day

SustAction is an annual event hosted for incoming students on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities during Welcome Week.

For participating students: We hope you enjoy connecting with sustainability-minded student groups, community organizations, and University Services. Continue learning about how you can make an impact and integrate sustainability into your lifestyle, our campus, and our world.

History

Starting in 2009, the Institute on the Environment opened its doors to more than 6,000 incoming University of Minnesota first year and transfer students, who have the opportunity to connect with student groups, community organizations, and University Services working toward sustainable lifestyles, communities, and more. Presented by Sustainability Education and the U’s Office of Sustainability, this one-day open house is part of the University of Minnesota Welcome Week festivities.  Since 2021, the event moved to the East Bank campus.

Sustainability Action is an opportunity for undergraduates to learn about resources on and off campus related to sustainability. Come join us for trivia and activities, fun prizes, and engaging conversations about research, innovation, and how students can get involved. This event aims to be both educational and fun – and this year will again be zero-waste with the help from UMN’s Recycling Team!
