Petri Dish: Making Moves: Should we help plants and animals migrate?

October 12 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$5

Climate change and habitat loss likely spell extinction for many species of plants and animals – especially those unable to move into more hospitable locations quickly enough. Some scientists are working on ways to help them pull up roots and relocate through “managed restoration,” challenging the prevailing paradigm about what it means for a species to be “native.” Our expert panel will explore the implications of this often controversial approach to conservation.

Panelists Include:
Jessica Hellman, professor and director, Institute on the Environment
Ruth Shaw, professor, College of Biological Sciences
Amanda Weise, conservation botanist, MN Landscape Arboretum

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. Program starts at 6:15 p.m.

Registration is requested through Eventbrite.
