Signal and Noise: Nature’s Underground Networks and What They Reveal

About the Event:

Some scientists who study the symbiotic relationship between plant roots and fungi argue that these sometimes vast underground networks facilitate a form of communication. The idea has gained traction in the popular imagination. Our panel will explore what nature’s underground networks can tell us about the current and future state of the environment, what we know – and what we don’t – about how trees and plants signal changes in their environment, and what it all means for our relationship to the natural world.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

Program starts at 6:15 p.m.
