Climate Change Adaptation
The Global Adaptation Initiative at the University of Minnesota studies ways to measure climate change risk and vulnerability around the world, at the country level via the Global Adaptation Index and within urban centers in the U.S. Corporations and aid agencies use the information we generate to advance understanding of adaptation science, discover adaptation priorities and monitor adaptation progress. In addition, the initiative is studying the influence of climate change risk and adaptation to national and international migration using data from the Minnesota Population Center. Finally, it explores adaptation for natural resources to protect endangered species and to test the potential for ecosystem services to mitigate climate change risks in urban areas.
