Courses & Programs

“We are drowning in information, while starving for wisdom. The world henceforth will be run by synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices wisely.” E. O. Wilson

There are several ways to get involved with Acara.  Each program is facilitated by our staff or instructing team.

Acara’s interdisciplinary courses help students gain the knowledge and skills they need to create innovative solutions for social and environmental change in the US and internationally. All Acara courses are intended for graduate, professional and upper level undergraduate students and there are no prerequisites required.

The Acara Challenge is an annual competition to fund student changemakers who are developing solutions to address social and/or environmental challenges.

Applications are accepted from students of all majors and in all stages of project development from all UMN campuses. Competition finalists will receive mentorship on developing proposals and pitches, as well as support in refining their goals and creating a viable launch program.
