Theory of Change

How does environmental progress actually happen? IonE’s Theory of Change shows how we connect people, ideas and action to move solutions into practice.

From the Ground Up

IonE’s Theory of Change grows from a clear premise: that when the right conditions exist, transformative, systems-level change becomes possible. Explore what these conditions are and the ways we cultivate them into meaningful impact.

Inputs

Fertile Ground

Every initiative IonE supports draws on a shared foundation – the expertise, resources and infrastructure that go into making ambitious, interdisciplinary work possible. These aren't background conditions; they’re what allow the work to begin.

Activities

Intention in Action

This is where IonE’s foundation becomes active – through research that generates new knowledge, programs that build and connect communities and communications that move ideas into the world. These activities are interdisciplinary by design, partner-engaged by commitment and oriented throughout toward outcomes that matter beyond the institution.

Outputs

Into the World

The work IonE supports generates things that travel – evidence-based solutions that communities and decision-makers can act on, people who are more skilled and connected than before and stories and ideas that move at scale.

Outcomes

Taking Flight

The outcomes IonE works toward are larger than any single institution can produce. They emerge when solutions are adopted at scale, when people are genuinely equipped and inspired to act and when the systems that shape our relationship with the natural world begin to shift. IonE cultivates toward these outcomes – and trusts the ecosystem to carry them forward.
