University-Wide Strength
UMN is home to multiple centers and partnerships focusing on Water and Land. Here’s one.
Water Resources Center
The Water Resources Center ensures Minnesota’s water decisions are grounded in rigorous, locally relevant research - delivered through trusted relationships, informed by practitioner needs and made in the interest of all who depend on Minnesota's water. Authorized by Congress as one of the nation’s 54 water resources research institutes, the center also connects research expertise at the University to research problems at the national level.

Challenge
Pollutants such as lead, zinc and phthalates are commonly found in stormwater and pose significant health risks, which disproportionately affect communities of color and socio-economically marginalized communities. The transport of pollutants and other waste into watersheds impacts both public health and the environment.
