Each fall, the IonE Annual Meeting brings all members of our network together for a day of connection, shared learning and renewed momentum for the academic year ahead.

What to Expect
The annual meeting offers a chance to spend time with the broader IonE community and connect with colleagues and partners across the institute. Faculty, students, staff, project partners, advisors and friends of IonE are all welcome and have the opportunity to shape the day by sharing their work, ideas and perspectives.
Each year, participants will hear details about where the institute is headed, find inspiration in keynote presentations and take part in a mix of table conversations, breakout sessions and collaborative activities throughout the day – all reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the IonE community. Our yearly gathering is a chance to step back from the day-to-day and spend intentional, reenergizing time with others working toward shared goals.
A Keynote Takeaway
In her 2025 IonE Annual Meeting keynote presentation, Sarah Jaquette Ray explored how collective efficacy can help counter feelings of isolation and disengagement in the face of climate challenges.
Centering emotions in our work for climate justice can help break this downward spiral.
Research shows that the best medicine is a sense of efficacy and a collective – and the climate generation must be resourced.
