Background & Expertise

Ben Ingman, PhD, is the director of learning and development at the Institute on the Environment. Prior to joining IonE, he served as an associate director and research associate professor at the University of Denver. 

Ingman brings experience developing and implementing innovative programming in K-12, university and community settings. He has content expertise in a variety of areas, including environmental education, adventure education, curriculum studies, community partnership, positive psychology, implementation science, youth engagement and research methodology. 

Ingman has published over 20 refereed journal articles, presented over 50 refereed presentations, and raised over $15 Million in funding for initiatives that have resulted in thousands of positive changes in rural communities. He earned a PhD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Denver and a master’s in experiential education from Minnesota State University, Mankato. In his free time, he enjoys climbing, camping and spending time with his family, Becky, Jack, Owen and George.
