Background & Expertise
Jon Knott is a research forester with the USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station, Forest Inventory and Analysis Program (FIA), situated on the University of Minnesota Saint Paul campus. FIA collects data on over 140,000 forested plots across the U.S., and Knott's research focuses on using FIA data to better understand forest dynamics. His research topics have included forest composition, structure, and demography; forest biomass estimation with remote sensing; and wildfire and disturbances, among others.
