Nicholas Jordan

Background & Expertise

Nick Jordan is a professor of agronomy and plant genetics at the University of Minnesota. His research, teaching and public-engagement work aim to find pathways to diversification in the agriculture of the Upper Midwest Region of North America. He focuses on developing the ability of diversified agriculture to produce a wide range of social, economic and environmental benefits to society. He is interested in transdisciplinary research in agriculture as a platform for advancing sustainability transitions in agriculture, and the application of such methods to address complex agricultural problems such as the transition to extensively diversified agriculture. He co-directs the Forever Green Initiative, a transdisciplinary innovation platform that is developing a portfolio of new crops that provide continuous living crop cover for Midwest agriculture.
