Background & Expertise
Tasnim Isaba, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Institute on the Environment, where her work focuses on environmental decision support, hazard resilience, and translating research into actionable tools for decision-makers and communities. She earned her PhD in city and metropolitan planning from the University of Utah and previously served as a postdoctoral research associate at Texas A&M University. Her research examines disaster risk reduction, wildfire recovery, land-use planning, social vulnerability, and equitable disaster recovery, with particular attention to how governance, policy and planning shape resilience outcomes. She uses mixed methods, spatial analysis and stakeholder-engaged research to bridge research and practice. Her broader interests include climate adaptation, resilience planning, environmental justice and the development of decision-support tools that help communities prepare for and recover from environmental hazards.
