Background & Expertise
Seth Fore is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute on the Environment. His research explores the socio-ecological interconnections between human and environmental systems to advance sustainability goals, including biodiversity conservation, climate resiliency and renewable energy production.
At IonE, Fore collaborates with the Midwest Climate Adaptation Science Center to analyze species' responses to environmental change and enhance the resilience of natural ecosystems. Additionally, he works with the PV-SuCCESS project, developing spatial models to assess socio-ecological tradeoffs in ecosystem services related to Midwest solar development.
Fore earned his PhD in functional ecology from the University of North Dakota, where he investigated how social drivers and land-use decisions impact ecosystem services through the lens of plant functional traits. He also holds a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota, focused on the economic and energetic viability of oilseed-based renewable energy.
Beyond his research, Fore is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys mountain biking, running, camping and hunting throughout the state.
