Ingrid E. Schneider, PhD, is a professor in the Department Forest Resources. Schneider teaches and does research in the human dimensions of natural resources with attention focused on human nature relationships, specifically in outdoor recreation and nature-based consumer experiences. She has worked across the globe exploring how constraints and conflict impact experiences and collaboratively developed management and policy approaches to improve those experiences. Schneider also served as director for the University’s Tourism Center for a dozen years. Prior to joining the University of Minnesota, she was an associate professor at Arizona State University and research manager for Sonifi (previously Lodgenet). Among other service contributions, she served as editor of the Journal of Leisure Research. Schneider was inducted as a fellow in the Academy of Leisure Sciences in 2012 and the Academy of Park & Recreation Administrators in 2020.
